AEMM Student Ian Wilson Wins Weisman Award

AEMM graduate student Ian Wilson has won the 2012 Weisman Award.

Ian received support for his forthcoming solo album This is Water, a 10-track folk-tronica record which he completed in January.  The award helps to fund both the artistic and management aspects of Ian’s project, defraying the cost of recording, physical manufacturing, and promotional materials for the album’s release in late spring.

Congratulations Ian!

About the Albert P. Weisman Award

For Columbia College students, the completion of a significant body of work marks the passage from experimentation and exploration, to making a singular artistic statement. The Albert P. Weisman Award was established in 1974 to encourage Columbia College Chicago students to complete just such a body of work. The Award is named for the late Al Weisman, a trustee of the college and one of Chicago’s best known and respected communicators. Mr. Weisman was a journalist, publicist, teacher and mentor to many. The Weisman Award is intended to perpetuate his commitment to nurturing interest and excellence in all aspects of communication. The Weisman Award provides funding to a limited number of students in a variety of media who need financial assistance in order to finish a significant project.
