AA&A Celebrates at Manifest 2015: Graduating/Award-Winning Students & Educational Partners

We are excited to dedicate again this year’s Manifest Reception to the AA&A Department’s students, recognizing our graduating seniors and their families and honoring our 2014-2015 Scholarship and Award winners. We will also be formally recognizing accomplished musician, engineer and producer Steve Albini of Electrical Audio as our Educational Partner, for his and his team’s longstanding support of our Audio Design & Production program.

When: Friday, 5/15/2015, 5:30-6:30pm
Where: 33 E. Congress, Lower Level Lobby (enter on Wabash and walk west towards the lower level staircase).

Come celebrate with us!

This is an opportunity for all of us at AA&A to interact with our future colleagues and their families and recognize our graduating seniors’ successful work. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the academic and creative accomplishments of our 2014-2015 award winning students.

Cian-Yu (Cindy) Pan (1st Prize) and Efe Tufan (2nd Prize) are this year’s recipients of the Hammerman Scholarship. We congratulate Cindy and Efe for maintaining high levels of academic performance and for consistently demonstrating dedication to their studies, intellectual rigor, dependability, and initiative. Both International Students, Cindy and Efe have not let any language barriers stand in their way.  Rather, they have managed to impress us with their  consistent performance, discrete persistence, and an overall level of success that reminds us why we chose to become teachers!

Cody Elston and Erica Hoffman share this year’s Jeremy Jefferies Hill Scholarship in Acoustics. Both performed exceptionally in their studies for our Acoustics B.S. program and have been meaningfully active within the Acoustical Society of America. Furthermore, Cody has participated in research work at Rush University and we anticipate he will be accepted into its Au.D. program, while Erica will be continuing her studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s graduate program in Architectural Acoustics. Congratulations Cody and Erica; you make us proud!

Acoustics senior, Jay Bliefnick, was awarded the 2014 Robert Bradford Newman Medal in Architectural Acoustics by the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), joining the ranks of a very select group of primarily graduate students from throughout the world who, since 1986, have been awarded this honor. In the fall, Jay will be starting his doctoral studies in Architectural Engineering at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln!
Acoustics senior, Christopher Kezon, was awarded the 2015 Leo Beranek Student Medal for Excellence in the Study of Noise Control by the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, USA (INCE/USA). Chris has also accepted a position as an acoustical/audio consultant with SHAcoustics and will be re-locating to their Los Angeles office soon after graduation!
Congratulations Jay and Chris!

Finally, AA&A is honored to recognize Steve Albini and Electrical Audio as our Educational Partners. For over twenty years, Steve and his team have generously donated their time and resources for the benefit of our students, effectively closing their business for a day each semester to host discussions and guided tours of Electrical Audio. In addition, numerous students have benefited from internships at the facility, significantly applying and furthering their education. We thank you!

Again, come celebrate with us during our AA&A Manifest 2015 Reception!
