Alumna Maggie Puckett Curates Exhibition of Current and Former InterArts Students at Human Thread

The “Finite Growth” opening on April 18.

Book & Paper alumna Maggie Puckett exhibited with Human Thread several years ago after answering a call for artists who worked with the theme of water. Last month she was approached by their director, Michiko Kobayashi, to curate a show about environmental issues to coincide with Earth Day. Many of her InterArts colleagues, both current or past students of the program, make work that explores environmental concepts, and she had no trouble finding the talent to fill the gallery. The Finite Growth exhibition opened April 18 to enthusiastic crowds, many of whom are  supporters from the InterArts community. Says Puckett, “I was truly grateful for such a wonderful turnout to my curatorial debut.”

Artists Exhibition Statement:
Climate change, oil spills, environmental protests, fracking, pollution: the consequence of interactions between humans and the Earth’s systems has never been more palpable. Do current events provide evidence of a trajectory towards overshoot and collapse? Or will social and environmental movements on both the local and global scale result in a stabilized world?
