New Release by University of Chicago Press Features Cover Design by InterArts Alum

University of Chicago Press has just released the expanded edition of Jonathan Rauch’s book, Kindly Inquisitors: The New Attacks on Free Thought. The book’s cover has been designed by InterArts Book + Paper alumnus Matthew Aron, and is featured this week on the University of Chicago Press’s homepage.

Two decades after the book’s initial publication, while some progress has been made, the regulation of hate speech has grown domestically—especially in American universities—and has spread even more internationally, where there is no First Amendment to serve as a meaningful check. But the answer to bias and prejudice, Rauch argues, is pluralism—not purism. Aron’s design relies on a clear and clean design to capture the reader’s attention and draw one into the important arguments housed between the covers.
