An Intersectionality Critique Exchange will be presented by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Multicultural Affairs department on Monday, October 14 at 4:30 p.m. The event features Columbia faculty member D. Denenge Akpem, who will be co-leading the discussion on Afro-Futurism alongside SAIC faculty member Delinda Collier. This series of dialogues will bring together students from SAIC and Columbia to discuss their work and themes of cultural importance in art world and beyond. The seminar will spark discussions about the work of our peers, and aims to find others who are interested in issues of intercultural exchange and identity.

Students from both SAIC and Columbia College are welcome to attend and present work with relevancy to the topic in this special collaborative critique session. To be on the list of presenters, students must email SAIC Multicultural Affairs Assistant Director Rashayla Brown at rbrown9@saic.edu. There are limited presentation spots available. Light refreshments will be served in the session space in room 215 of the Sharp building at 37 South Wabash Avenue, just a few blocks north of Columbia’s campus.

Future sessions in the ongoing series will include collaboration across departments at SAIC, as well as students and faculty from Northwestern, University of Chicago, and UIC.
