InterArts Alumni Exhibition Celebrates the Art of Contingency Plans

It is time to embrace failure once again. At least, that’s what this group is betting on, as they embrace the idea that something is always gained from getting it wrong.

Working with the premise that failure is entwined in the DNA of humans’ creative process, ten InterArts alums will unveil new projects in their exhibition If All Else Fails, at the Co-Prosperity Sphere. This invitational exhibition of close-knit Chicago artists will present a wide range of experimental artwork in new media, text, paper, fiber, and performance. The artists in the show are responding to the prospects, hopes, and phobias of everything falling apart, and in doing so, they use the debris as material for creating better work. In an additional collaborative twist, along with creating individual work, each artist will create a portrait of one of their colleagues to frame, and exorcise their faults for the public.

Artists presenting works and experiments in exhibition include Jenny Garnett, Michelle Graves, Kaitlin Kostus, Trisha Oralie Martin, Maggie Puckett, Amy Rabas, Nicolas Shawn King Ruley, Michael Chad St. John, Kellen Elizabeth Walker, and Moe Yousuf.
