Book and Paper MFA Curated Into Upcoming Reading Event

InterArts MFA Krista Franklin will present and discuss her interdisciplinary work in the upcoming event Words Made to Occupy at Chicago’s Woman Made Gallery on November 11. The event corresponds with the MDW Art Fair in Chicago, which will be showcasing the city’s independent art initiatives, spaces, galleries and artist groups, highlighting artist-run activities and experimental culture.

Diamonds are Forever by Krista Franklin.

The Words Made to Occupy event features six interdisciplinary artists who occupy words, not as a polemic but toward truth-telling, for a memorable evening of words made to occupy. Curated by Valerie Wallace, the poets will read from their work and talk about how and why they approach poetry to be used on and off the page. Says curator Wallace, “In the spirit of Lucile Clifton, this reading is meant to ‘comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.'”
