Teresa Pankratz (Book + Paper MFA 2011) will present a final reading of The View From a House in Kansas, Acts 1 to 5, which is the principle narrative of her installation work The Dream House Collection.



Pankrantz’s work The Dream House Collection OR Tales of Narrow Escape has been nestled into the second floor gallery room at SHoP since June 2. The complex work is an installation of eleven print and object-based narrative sculptures displayed under glass and situated on an assembled blueprint floor. The multiple pieces work in concert to tell a story of three adult siblings whose lives are transformed when their childhood home burns to the ground. Pankrantz’s work was installed as part of the larger initiative On Making Things Matter: Strategies for Preservation, which is up through July 15. This larger exhibition dealt with the many aspects of leaving, as interpreted by the exhibiting artists.

The Dream House Collection project is partially supported by a Community Arts Assistance Program grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and Illinois Arts Council, a state agency; the Albert P. Weisman Award, a private trust affiliated with Columbia College Chicago; and the Caxton Club Scholarship Award from the Caxton Club of Chicago.
