Hale Ekinci’s new installation, Language Barrier, is one of the featured works in Design Cloud Gallery’s exhibition Culture Shocked, on view May 18–June 2, 2012.

Curated by Susan Kissinger, the show at the innovative West Loop Arts Gate design collaborative Design Cloud combines paintings, photographs, installations, and a short film together for a cohesive look at how beautiful, frustrating, and shocking cultural disconnect can be. Ekinci, who is currently Interactive Media Studies Assistant Professor of Art at North Central College, combines some of her previous video work (housed inside vintage suitcases) with the new Language Barrier installation.
