Led by Chicago-based artist John Preus, collaborators include Interdisciplinary Arts graduate students Trisha Martin and Elizabeth Isakson, as well as students from the Art and Design department (Columbia College) and SAIC.

The collaboration includes site visits to the Dorchester House, a south side public art project by Theaster Gates and Recycle Plus, a resource for scraps, furniture and refuse.

The reading room will be constructed out of re-purposed materials, and the design charrette includes site visits to the Dorchester House and Recycle Plus, as well as presentations from guest and participating artists.

THE WORLD AS TEXT reading room and exhibition will take place from June 16 – August 12. Click here for more information.
