Crafting Hope: An Arts Activism Project is an opportunity for the public to engage in a worldwide effort to raise awareness about past and current genocides and to encourage change through arts activism.

Come participate in the bone making process, interact with others’ ideas through the Open Space for Democracy board, and learn what an important role Columbia College Chicago has been playing in arts activism since 2006.

Framed by a larger conversation about arts activism at Columbia College, Crafting Hope seeks to further One Million Bones project’s mission to create widespread recognition of genocides across the world and the millions of victims and survivors who have been killed or displaced as a result. One million bones made by artists, activists, and students will be laid in Washington DC in Spring 2013 in the form of a symbolic mass grave. Organized by the Hokin Project, Crafting Hope encourages hope for an end to genocide; hope that resides in compassion and human connection.
